Shift

Book 21of 2017 is Shift by Hugh Howey

This is the first middle book in a trilogy since Two Towers that I have loved and not wanted to put down. I demolished this in days and even woke up early to read it. This makes sense since Wool leaves you in a state of wondering what is happening and why.

The character development is more solid than Wool. The history and cunning plans are laid out and understandable. This brings it all together and now I'm waiting for Dust to smash it home.

Should I read this? Yes. Read the whole series. This is very good sci-fi.
What did I learn? I have to finish more of the series I start.

Wool Omnibus

Book 46 of 2015 is the first book of the Silo series, Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey.

This is a great world and the characters are more realistic than the usual post apocalyptic type. The women come across like actual people and tended to remind me of strong female characters in the Star Trek world.

The writing is simple but interesting. I listened to the audio book and it kept me engaged most of the time, which isn't usually the case.

Should I read this? If you like post apocalyptic fiction then this is one for you.
What did I learn? People don't like being cooped up in finite places.
